For those of you who are Member/Owners on a rural electric coop in Illinois, here is some good news, but only if you act quickly on it.
Funds are available do be dispersed to homeowners who invest in energy upgrades to their homes via the HomE Lite program.
It is very easy to qualify to receive these big rebates, but, I stress, this is for a very limited time. It runs until June 30, 2013, or until the money is gone. The chances of the money being there on June 30 are slim to none (that's my personal, completely educated guess:)
Here is a link to the Adams Electric Coop website where you can get more details on the program: http://www.adamselectric.coop/homelite
The investments you can make in your home's efficiency that qualify are these:
1)Residential Geothermal - $1500
2)Residential Air Source Heat Pump (min 16 SEER) - $1000
3)Commercial Geothermal or Heat Pump (min 16 SEER) - $500/ton, $10,000 max)
4)Insulation/Weatherization - 50% of project cost up to $1000.
5)Heat Pump Water Heater - $250
6)Complete BPI Energy Audit - up to $300 with purchase of at least one upgrade recommended in audit report
These are some pretty big incentives to make upgrades today.
If you have any questions about this program after reading this, fell free to contact me or your local rural electric coop.
Making an investment in these home improvements is always a good idea, but right now it's a bit more affordable. Get it while it's still available!!!
Blog Update: The rebate funds have been used. These rebates are no longer available:(
